photography day
I couldn't have asked for more gorgeous weather for a Saturday day trip. Living History Farms in Urbandale, IA hosts a Photography Day every fall.
Photographers of all skill levels are invited to come for just an admission price to the park and attend workshops all day - everything from beginning DSLR courses, to advanced metering techniques and Photoshop courses.
There are so many courses to choose from, and I spent a good hour the night before trying to choose which ones I needed most.
In the end, I attended courses on capturing emotion, nighttime photography, indoor low light photography, and a Photoshop course.
If you're just breaking into photography, I highly recommend checking out next year's workshop. It was worth the three hour drive for me. Photography workshops in rural Iowa seem to be in short supply, and over the course of a day at Living History Farms I was able to cover many different skill sets all in one place.
And then, of course, there's shopping in West Des Moines afterward. Everyone wins. :)
