My husband is a wonderful guy, and we have been talking about going to the Omaha Zoo for weeks. So when he finally got a free weekend and asked me if I'd like to go, of course I said YES, PLEASE. And where there is wildlife, there will be me and a camera. It isn't too far of a drive to make a day trip, so off we went on a Saturday morning.
(Side note: I've been dying to get a shot of an aerial sprayer this spring, and the season is almost over.)
One of our first stops at the zoo were the otters. Otters are one of my favorite animals on God's green earth. They're adorable, they resemble my dogs (I call the pups my little "land otters"), and they're always makin' trouble. One of the most entertaining animals to watch, and I revert to a small child when I see them. So naturally they get "first pic".
We spent the morning and the better part of the afternoon taking it all in. The only thing that I'd change would be that I would have stolen someone's child to take with us. There's never-ending excitement at the zoo for small children, and I was giggling at someone's kid every five seconds as they gaped in amazement at everything around them.
I'll be forever thankful for a husband with the patience and tolerance for this girl who LOVES her zoology.

The last summer hurrah before autumn - long hours, many miles and bushels, and lots of frozen field meals. Let harvest begin.
